Caring for Your Custom Throw Blanket
Your new custom throw blanket from Signature Creations will have already been pre-washed, dried, folded, and poly bagged when you receive it, however, you will still need to know how to care for it properly in order for it to last for many years to come. You do have the option to have it dry cleaned, however, it really isn’t necessary to go to all that time and expense. When you clean your throw blanket please remember to always wash and dry it separately for the best results! Because the blanket is made up of yarn it can end up with little pills or “fuzz balls” on it if you wash it with a sweater or towels or another type of blanket.
The best way to clean your throw blanket is to wash it separately in cold water on delicate cycle with a small amount of laundry detergent. Never use bleach! Bleach will ruin the blanket. Next, throw it into the dryer by itself, and it should come out just like new. Occasionally you can end up with a few stands of yarn in the fringe that have stretched out longer than the rest of them. When this happens all you need to do to fix this issue is to trim off some yarn with scissors so that it is the same size as the rest of the fringe.
Proper care of your throw blanket will make it last longer especially when using your blanket at the beach or while on a camping trip or on a picnic. If your throw blanket has been lying on top of the sand or in the grass simply shake it out thoroughly before bringing it home or before washing it.
Lastly, I want to mention that your poly bag is a great way to keep your blanket neat and clean. Please keep in mind that we also offer custom woven tote bags at Signature Creations to match your custom throw blankets, and that would be just perfect for carrying your blanket around anywhere you go while keeping it clean all at the same time.
